Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability evidence utilizing an accelerometer to estimate moderate-vigorous physical activity level of Korean adults in 2014. A total of 742 adults (311 males & 431 females) in Korea participated. The participants worn Actigraph GT3X (USA) on their left waists for longer than 10hours for 7days. Epoch was set at 60 second and minutes of moderate and vigorous physical activity were calculated (Mean±SD). The proportion of wearing days among all participants were calculated, paired t-test and ANOVA were applied to compare mean differences of moderate-vigrous physical activity (MVPA) between weekday and weekend as well as among each day. Pearson Correlation coefficient, Inter-class Correlation, Spearman Brown formular, and multiple regression were applied to determine how many days and which day are needed for reliable and representative days to estimate MVPA levels. As results, 1) about 80% and 35% were wearing the Actigraph for 4days and 7days, respectively. 2) The mean minutes of MVPA were no statistical difference between weekday and weekend (p>.05), but there was statistical difference of MVPA while 1 bout was considered. 3) Four days were required from Spearman-Brown formular (>.80), and 3days were reliable days from the multiple regression analysis. When estimating the rate of meeting physical activity guideline for Korean adults, 1 bout should be considered to calculate physical activity levels, the it should be compared with GPAQ adopted by Korea NHANES.
