사회과에서의 다문화 교육은 다양성과 공존을 추구하는 시민을 양성하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이때, 다양성과 공존을 추구하기 위해 전제되어야 할 ‘인권’은 다문화 교육에서 다양성의 한계로 작용하고, 내국인과 외국인과의 합리적 차별에 대한 기준으로 작용하며, 더 나아가 소수자와 약자의 공존을 위한 적극적 배려 차원에서의 역할을 한다. 따라서 사회과에서의 다문화 인권교육을 위한 교육과정도 이러한 세 가지 역할을 고려하여, 소극적 의미의 다문화 인권교육, 중립적 의미의 다문화 인권교육, 더 나아가 적극적 의미의 다문화 인권교육으로 구분하여 구성될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The multicultural education in social studies education seek cultural diversity and coexistence. By the way, because of the vagueness of the concept of diversity, we have to analyze the concept of that by types and invent appropriate kinds of teaching strategy. For instance, the pursuit of diversity does not mean unconditional tolerance to all diversity. So, we have to set limits of diversity that we allow in the multicultural education curriculum in social studies. On the other hand, human-rights in multicultural education, play a role as limits of diversity that we allow, standards of rational discrimination between local residents and foreigners, and by extension, a balanced rudder of affirmative action for the coexistence with the week and minorities. And to conclude, the multicultural human-rights education curriculum in social studies, must be planed and developed to give consideration to those three points. So, the curriculum concerning the multicultural education in social studies can be studied and composed additionally, with passive, neutral and active tactics, in terms of human rights.
