이 연구는 그동안 100여년의 빙상 경기 역사에서 기록에 영향을 미친 주요 변인들이 구체적으로 스케이트, 빙질 관리, 경기장 구조 등의 요인에 의한 기록 단축의 효과가 어떻게 나타났는지를 설명하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구에서는 1893년부터 2002년까지 세계올라운드 스피드 선수권대회 남자대회 공식 기록을 근거로 하였다. 연구결과 지난 100여 년간의 스피드 스케이트 기록의 변화는 환경적 요인에 의해 의미있는 기록변화가 이루어졌으며, 정빙기의 도입에 의한 빙질 관리가 기록 단축에 상대적으로 크게 기여하였으며 다음으로 클랩 스케이트의 개발, 실내 빙상장에서의 경기 개최 등의 효과가 작용한 것으로 설명할 수 있다. 방법론적 측면에서는 시계열적 양적 특성을 가진 스포츠 기록의 분석 연구에서 일반적인 단순선형회귀모형 보다도 기록의 변화에서 구간별 특징적인 변화의 양상이 존재하는 자료인 경우 접목된(segmented) 또는 여러 구간으로 나누어진(piecewise) 다항회귀 모형의 적합을 통해 특수 변인의 개입효과에 대한 의미있는 결과를 보여준 자료로서 의의가 있다고 보여진다. 이러한 결과는 다양한 스포츠 자료의 분석연구에서 거시적 기록변화의 추이에 대한 설명력을 높이는데 기여할 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
Speed skating has seen many innovations in last century. There were the klapskate, ice resurfacing machine(Zamboni), indoor ice rink construction. The purpose of this study was to examine the that environmental effect to speed skate recode during last century. In this study, using ISU world allround speed skate recode(men), examined the changing pattern from 1893-2002. Segmented polynomial regression model applied to speed skate record trend analyzing. The results indicate that klapskate, ice resurfacing machine(Zamboni), indoor ice rink effect to be significantly related to change speed skate record during last century. Segmented polynomial regression model are necessary for making good explanations, and that is valuable in many record performance sport for understanding intervention(environmental) effect.
