초등학교 학생의 지식정보처리역량이 시민의식에 미치는 영향

본 연구의 목적은 지식정보처리역량이 시민성에 미치는 영향을 구조방정식으로 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 종속변수 시민성, 독립변수 지식정보처리역량, 매개변수 비인지적 역량을 사용하여 청소년정책연구원 ‘청소년 역량지수 측정 및 국제비교 연구Ⅱ : IEA ICCS 2016’에서 사용한 초등학생 2,914명의 설문지를 분석하였다. 아울러 성별, 학년별 변수도 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 지식정보처리역량은 개인시민성, 공동체시민성, 세계시민성에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 보여주었다, 둘째, 지식정보처리역량은 비인지적인 영역을 매개로 하여 개인시민성과 세계시민성에 통계적으로 부(-)적 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 지식정보처리역량이 시민의식에 미치는 영향은 성별에 따라 약간의 차이가 나타났다. 남학생은 개인시민성과 공동체 시민성에서 부(-)적 효과가 있었고, 여학생은 세계시민성에서만 부(-)적 효과가 있었다. 매개 변수의 효과에서도 마찬가지였다. 넷째, 지식정보처리역량은 학년이 높아짐에 따라 신장되지만 개인시민성은 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 지식정보처리역량이 시민성 함양에 긍정적인 영향을 끼치는 것이 검증된 만큼 민주시민양성을 목적으로 하는 사회과교육에서 지식정보처리역량 신장의 정교한 방법을 좀 더 강구해야 할 것으로 보인다. 아울러 지식정보처리역량과 비정의적 영역이 부(-)적 관계가 있다는 사실은 디지털 리터러시가 시민교육의 중요한 부분이 되어야 한다는 사실을 보여준다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the knowledge and information processing competence has significant effects on citizenships in mediation of non-cognitive factors. For this, we used the structural equation model with the data from Korean elementary students (N=2914) in IEA ICCS 2016. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the knowledge and information processing competence has significant effects on citizenships directly. Second, the knowledge and information processing competence has positive effects on individual and global citizenship in mediation of non-cognitive factors. Third, the results of multi-group analysis showed that there were differences according to gender and grade. Based on the results of this study, knowledge and information processing competence has proved to have a positive effect on the cultivation of citizenship, it is necessary to elaborate more sophisticated methods of enhancing it in social studies education aimed at cultivating democratic citizens. In addition, the effect that the knowledge and information processing competence and the non - informal relationship are negative indicates that digital literacy should be an important part of civic education.
