예비교사들의 서이초 교사 추모제 참여 경험에 대한 내러티브 연구
A Narrative Study on the Experience of Pre-service Teachers who Participate in the Memorial Festival for Elementary Teachers in Seoi Elementary School

본 연구는 서이초 교사 추모제 경험에 대한 예비교사들의 내러티브를 분석하고, 그들의 경험이 갖는 의미를 이해해 보고자 하였다. 본 연구가 가진 특수한 목적성으로 인해 참여자 선정은 목적적 샘플링 방식으로 이루어졌다. 서이초 교사 추모제에 주체적으로 참여한 학생회 임원 세 명을 선정하여 2023년 8월 말부터 10월 말까지 약 2개월에 걸쳐 면담을 진행하였다. 서이초 교사 추모제에 참여한 세 예비교사의 내러티브 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비교사들은 공통적으로 서이초 사건 발생 처음에는 슬픔과 혼란스러움, 자신의 꿈에 대한 절망감을 느꼈다. 특히 사건의 발생이 예비교사들의 심리적 거리가 매우 가까운 곳에서 일어난 일이라는 점에서 예비교사들의 충격이 매우 컸다. 둘째, 추모제를 열기로 한 동기는 공감과 자발성이었다. 예비교사들은 선배 교사의 아픔에 공감하고, 자발적으로 추모를 하며 자신들의 목소리를 내기로 하였다. 셋째, 예비교사들은 추모제를 진행하면서 다양한 의사결정과정을 경험하였다. 학생부 임원으로서 추모제의 실시 여부와 진행 방식에 대해 대화와 토론을 하고, 여러 차례에 걸쳐 민주적인 의사결정을 거쳤다. 넷째, 예비교사들은 앞으로 교사가 되어서도 교육 현장에 부조리한 일이 생긴다면 이번처럼 다 함께 해결 방안을 모색하고 행동할 것이라 다짐하였다. 종합해 보면 예비교사들은 서이초 교사 추모제에 참여하면서 참여와 실천 의지를 다지고, 민주적인 시민성의 성장을 이루어 냈다고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
This study attempted to analyze the narratives of pre-service teachers about the experience of the memorial service for elementary school teachers in Seoi Elementary School and to understand the meaning of their experiences. The results of narrative analysis of the three pre-service teachers were as follows. First, pre-service teachers commonly felt sadness, confusion, and despair at the beginning. Second, motivations behind holding the memorial service were spontaneity and empathy. Third, pre-service teachers said they gained "comfort and courage" through the experience of the memorial festival. Fourth, pre-service teachers vowed to act together if something irrational happened in the educational field even if they become teachers in the future.
