본 연구는 유비쿼터스 환경에서의 지역정보화 개념을 정립하고 이를 통하여 구현하는 서비스 유형을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 유비쿼터스 기술은 향후 정보화를 선도하는 차세대 기술로서 인식되고 있으나, 과연 그 영향력이 얼마나 될 것인가 대해서는 아직 논란이 되고 있다. 왜냐하면 기존의 유비쿼터스 개념은 기술이 사회 및 제도의 변화를 주도한다는 기술결정론적 시각에서 정립되었기 때문이다. 이러한 결정론적 시각은 향후 차세대 지역정보화를 설계함에 있어서 바람직하지 않으며, 보다 다차원적이고 조직과 사회와 상호작용하는 입체적인 관점에서 유비쿼터스와 지역정보화의 관계를 정립하고 분석해야 할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 생성론적 혹은 과정론적 관점에서 유비쿼터스 환경을 해석하고 보다 포괄적이고 입체적인 u-지역정보화 개념을 제시하였다. 그리고 정립한 u-지역정보화 개념을 기반으로 u-지역정보화 서비스 유형을 도출 할 수 있는 모형 개발과 서비스 유형을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to conceptualize the transformation of local community into information society under the ubiquitous environment. It is problematic that ubiquitous technology has been conceptualized based upon the technology deterministic perspective. This deterministic perspective may mislead policy decision makers and local governments that ubiquitous technology will create unexpected wealth, revolutionary change of life patterns in local communities, and the relationship between local governments and local people with trust. To adjust this dangerous belief on the ubiquitous society, the study will re-conceptualize the ubiquitous technology and its environments based upon the emergent perspective or the process theory. It will also provide different levels of ubiquitous services which may help local region to design more people oriented services.
