고통 과잉감내력에 영향을 미치는 심리적 특성: 인지적 경직성, 완벽주의 및 정서조절 곤란을 중심으로

초록

고통 과잉감내력(distress overtolerance)은 고통을 회피할 수 있음에도 불구하고 과도하게 지속적으로 감내하는 경향성을 의미한다. 본 연구는 고통 과잉감내력에 영향을 미치는 심리적 특성들(인지적 경직성, 부정 완벽주의 성향, 정서조절 곤란)을 탐색하며 그 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구 1에서는 고통 과잉감내력 척도(Distress Overtolerance Measure: DOM)를 새롭게 번안하고, 그 요인 구조와 신뢰도 및 타당도를 확인하였다(N = 273). 번안된 척도는 원 척도의 요인 구조와 동일하게 2요인 구조로 이루어졌으며 신뢰도 및 타당도는 양호한 것으로 파악되었다. 연구 2에서는 인지적 경직성 및 부정 완벽주의 성향, 정서조절 곤란과 고통 과잉감내력의 관계를 탐색하고, 정서조절 곤란의 매개역할을 확인하기 위해 상관 분석 및 구조방정식 분석을 실시하였다(N = 273). 상관 분석 결과, 인지적 경직성과 부정 완벽주의 성향이 고통 과잉감내력 및 정서조절 곤란과 유의미한 정적 상관을 보였다. 구조방정식 분석 결과, 인지적 경직성과 고통 과잉감내력의 관계에서 정서조절 곤란이 완전매개하였으며, 부정 완벽주의 성향과 고통 과잉감내력의 관계에서는 정서조절 곤란이 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의와 한계점을 논의하였다.

Abstract

Distress overtolerance refers to the tendency to continue tolerating excessively despite being able to avoid distress. This study aimed to examine the relationship between psychological characteristics that affect distress overtolerance. In Study 1, the Distress Overtolerance Measure (DOM) was newly translated and validated. The results of the statistical analysis supported the two-factor structure of the DOM and demonstrated good reliability and validity. Study 2 explored the association of distress overtolerance with cognitive rigidity, negative perfectionism, and emotion dysregulation. It also examined the mediating role of emotion dysregulation. As a result of correlation analysis, cognitive rigidity and negative perfectionism showed a significant positive correlation with distress overtolerance and emotion dysregulation. As a result of structural equation analysis, cognitive rigidity had only an indirect effect on distress overtolerance via emotion dysregulation, and negative perfectionism had a direct effect on distress overtolerance with an indirect effect via emotion dysregulation. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
