艮齋의 人物性論 고찰 − 「中庸記疑」를 중심으로 −

Abstract

This study is a study on Ganjae’s Human nature and The nature of things Theory focusing on Jungyonggieu. Ganjae was born a generation after the Horak controversy and had been at the center of the argument on the principle of human nature since the mid-19th century. He inherited the Nakron Seongri theory based on the doctrines of Neo-Confucianism, which can be summarized as consisting of Yulgok's Seongri theory, Inmulseongdong, Mibal-sim Chae-seon (undetected principle of the mind), and Seongbeomsim-dong(聖凡心同). The interpretation of single line theory of Ganjae that will be discussed here also raises some questions about nature and human nature. The leading arguments in Doctrine of the Mean can be summarized as consisting of two main ideas. First of all, Gyeonghak theory states that Neo-Confucianism and Limu Yu-gi Youyu is a “correct study” of the Yumun Juri. For moral learning, “sikja” was suggested as a condition of study. In addition, the study was devoted to “Eonhae” (interpretation) to convey the standard learning. Second, a consistent principle that suggests the morals of Confucianism is represented as “Jon Sung (reaching the highest level of human nature/the noble disposition) ”in the theory of Jon Sung. However, it should not be overlooked that the foundation of Ganjae's Gyeonghak is based on the premise that “it is only possible to reach the highest level of human nature by recording it with the sprits and energy as SimSigi (Your heart is your energy).” In the interpretation of Ganjae’s human nature and the nature of things, the characteristics of Inmulseongdong and understanding of human nature have been reviewed. Ganjae explains human nature in terms of structures of Seongri Simgi (human nature and mine) and Seongdong-gi. To judge from the trend of Korean Neo-Confucianism, Ganjae's Inmulseong theory inherits the tradition of Nakron Seongri theory, which shows the ideology of Zhu Xi's Neo-Confucian philosophy to be at its root. Ganjae analyzed the relationship between nature and human nature, consequently revealing the problem of practical realization of human nature with Sim bon seong and Sung-sa Simjae, and sought to pursue the ideal of Confucianism.
