This paper analyses strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of low cost carriers, and reviews successful low cost carriers and failed carriers. Through the study, I derive strategies for low cost carriers to perform to survive and succeed in the industry. Cost reduction strategy and differentiation strategy are presented, Furthermore it is suggested that cost reduction strategy and differentiation strategy should be employed simultaneously to be more competitive. Naturally differentiation strategy should not invite additional cost.
