항공서비스품질을 고려한 미국 항공사 간의 효율성 분석 - 네트워크 DEA를 활용하여 -

초록

본 연구는 2012년부터 2014년 까지 미국 항공사들을 대상으로 항공 서비스품질을 고려한 네트워크효율성을 측정한 연구이다. 기존의 효율성에 대한 대다수의 연구는 서비스품질을 배제한 전반적인 효율성을 측정하는 연구들이었다. 그러나 항공 산업은 대표적인 서비스업 중의 하나로 고객 서비스품질을 고려하지 않은 효율성 평가는 한계를 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 서비스 품질을 중간산출물로고려한 연결된 네트워크 효율성 분석을 통해 보다 구체적이고 현실적인 항공사 운영방안을 제시하고자 한다. 네트워크 분석결과에 의하면, 기존의 효율성이 우수한 집단(AS, DL, VX)은 서비스품질을 고려하면 비효율적인 집단으로 바뀌었고, 기존의 효율성이 비효율적이었던 UA와 US는 서비스품질을 고려하면 효율적인 항공사로 평가되었다.

Abstract

This study analyzed the efficiency for US airlines using the network DEA considering airline service quality from 2012 to 2014. Most of previous studies solely focused on the management efficiency without considering airline service quality. The prior studies, therefore, have a limits on measuring the efficiency without considering airline service quality, mainly because the airline service quality is very important in airline industry. Thus, this study tried to measure the network efficiency including service quality as a intermediate. The results show that efficiency DMUs(i.e. AS, DL, VX) in traditional DEA changed to inefficiency DMUs if considering the airline service quality. Furthermore, inefficient DMUs such as UA and US have changed to efficient DMUs after considering service quality.
