초록
This study investigates the degree of competition among financial institutions by analyzing the financial trading activities of the small and medium firms located in Ulsan-Kyungnam. The study period is separated into pre and post 1997 financial crisis. The results of the analysis show that the degree of competition among financial institutions is getting severe after the financial crisis. Under such circumstances, Kyungnam bank strives to ease financial constraints of the small and medium firms in Ulsan-Kyungnam regions. However, it seems that Kyungnam bank lacks the ability to build up unique relationships with local firms compared to the national banks such as Industrial Bank of Korea and Kookmin Bank. Therefore, Kyungnam bank should develop close relationship with local small and medium firms to construct its own operational ground. The market basket analysis adopted in the current study in order to analyze the degree of competition among financial institutions can be utilized for similar researches.
