Abstract

In this study, we tried to find the cause of the rapid increase in the number of users of short-form content in the attributes of short-form content, and examine how these attributes lead to content sharing among users. Through previous studies, the attributes of short-form content were derived as perceived enjoyment and perceived usefulness. In addition, interaction among content users was derived as an antecedent factor for intention to share content. As a construct concept that mediates the influence of the above three antecedent factors on the intention to share content, the efficacy of content was derived and the mediating role was also identified. The research hypotheses for this purpose consisted of a total of four. In the first hypothesis, it was expected that perceived enjoyment while using short-form content would have a positive effect on content efficacy, which is the degree to which short-form content is considered useful to others. The second hypothesis predicted that perceived usefulness while using short-form content would also have a positive effect on content efficacy. The third hypothesis predicted that the interaction among users who watch short-form content would have a positive effect on content efficacy. Finally, the fourth hypothesis predicted that the content efficacy perceived in short-form content would have a positive effect on the intention to share content with others. Data for hypothesis verification were collected through an online survey targeting TikTok users within one week from the time of the survey, and an empirical analysis was conducted on 230 valid samples. As a result of the empirical analysis, unlike Hypothesis 1, perceived enjoyment from short-form content did not have a significant effect on content efficacy. On the other hand, the perceived usefulness of short-form content was found to have a positive effect on content efficacy as predicted by Hypothesis 2. Interactivity among short-form content users was also found to have a positive effect on content efficacy, as predicted by Hypothesis 3. Finally, the effect of perceived efficacy on short-form content on the intention to share content was also found to have a positive effect as predicted in Hypothesis 4. Through additional analysis, it was confirmed that short-form content efficacy mediated the effect of short-form content usefulness and interactivity among short-form content users on the intention to share content. The significance of this study is that it was confirmed that the perceived usefulness of the short-form content did affect the content efficacy, while the perceived enjoyment of the short-form content did not affect the content efficacy even though the short-form content was short and emotional. In practice, it can be found that the content policies and search optimization strategies of airlines that want to use major short-form platforms as communication channels need to focus on improving the usefulness of content from the point of view of target users.
