학생조종사가 선호하는 비행교관 교수행동 유형에 대한 연구 - Q방법론을 중심으로 -

항공 여객수요의 급격한 증가와 항공운송산업의 지속적인 발전에 따른 조종인력 양성을 위해 국내 다수의 대학에서 항공운항학과를 개설하고 학생조종사를 양성하고 있다. 비행교관은 학생조종사의 비행실습교육을 담당하고 있으며 비행교관의 교수행동은 학생조종사의 교육훈련 성과와 교육목표 달성에 중요한 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 학생조종사가 비행교육에 대해 가지고 있는 기대와 니즈에 대해 자세히 파악하고 비행교육 성과를 향상시키기 위한 효과적인 방안을 강구하기 위해 학생조종사가 선호하는 교수행동 유형에 대해 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구는 학생조종사 개인의 주관적인 느낌과 경험, 의견 등을 효과적으로 반영하고 학생조종사가선호하는 교수행동 유형에 대한 심층적인 이해를 지원하기 위하여 Q방법론을 이용해 분석하였다. 다양하고 폭넓은 선행연구 고찰을 통해 86개의 Q진술문을 도출하였으며 연구대상자와 학계 전문가 검토를 통해 총 33개의 Q표본을 구축하였다. 그리고 P표본으로 선정된 항공운항학과 학생조종사 총 35명을 대상으로 Q표본을 Q분류표에 배치하는 방식으로 진행하였으며 QUANL Analysis를 활용해 데이터를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 학생조종사가 선호하는 비행교관 교수행동 유형은 크게 3가지 유형으로 분류되었으며 특성에 따라 제1유형은 ‘목표달성을 위한 실무능력형’, 제2유형은 ‘자신감 향상과 동기부여형’, 제3유형은 ‘지속적인 관심과 상호작용형’으로 명명하였다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 학생조종사들이 선호하는 비행교관 교수행동의 각 유형별 특성을 알아보고 각 유형에 따른 적합한 교수전략 개발과 학생조종사와 비행교관과의 긍정적인 상호작용을 위한 실질적이고 유용한 방안을 제공함으로써 비행교육 성과와 교육만족도 향상에 기여하고자 한다. 또한 고도의 긴장감과 집중력을 요구하는 비행 실습교육에서 학생조종사의 스트레스와 불안을 완화시키고 교육적 기대와 니즈를 만족시기 위한 최적의 교수행동 및 비행교수법 설계에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.
Abstract
In line with the rapid increase in air passenger demand and the continuous development of the air transportation industry, many domestic universities have opened flight operation departments and trained student pilots. The flight instructor is in charge of the flight training of the student pilots and the teaching behavior of the flight instructor has an important influence on the attainments of the education and training performance of the student pilots and the achievement of the educational goal. The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of teaching behavior preferred by student pilots in order to grasp the expectations and needs of the student pilots for flight education in detail and to find effective ways to improve flight education performance. Q methodology was used to effectively reflect the subjective feelings, experiences, and opinions of individual student pilots and to support in-depth understanding of preferred teaching behavior types. A total of 86 Q statements were derived through various and extensive review of previous studies, and a total of 33 Q samples were constructed through the review of research subjects and academic experts. In addition, the Q sample was placed in the Q classification table for a total of 35 student pilots of the flight operation department selected as the P samples, and the data were analyzed using QUANL Analysis. As a result of the analysis, the types of flight instructors’ teaching behavior preferred by student pilots were largely classified into three types. Depending on the characteristics, the first type was named as ‘practical ability to achieve goals’, the second type was named as ‘confidence improvement and motivation’, and the third type was named as ‘continuous interest and interaction’. Based on the results of this study, we intend to contribute to improving flight education outcomes and educational satisfaction by identifying the characteristics of each type of flight instructor’s teaching behavior preferred by student pilots and providing practical and useful ways to develop appropriate teaching strategies for each type and positive interaction between student pilots and flight instructors. In addition, this study aims to provide basic data on optimal teaching behavior and flight instruction design to alleviate the stress and anxiety of student pilots in flight training requiring high tension and concentration and to satisfy educational expectations and needs.
