Abstract
This study empirically explores how the attributes of pop-up stores influence consumers’ perceptions of value co-creation and their attitudes toward the brand. The research identifies four key attributes—sensory engagement, perceived scarcity, cross-channel connectivity, and interactive experience design—as independent variables. Value co-creation is treated as a mediating variable, while brand attitude serves as the dependent variable. Additionally, the moderating effect of consumers’ need for uniqueness is examined to determine how individual differences affect the strength of these relationships. An online survey was conducted among 350 consumers in their 20s and 30s who had previously visited pop-up stores. Data were analyzed using factor analysis, reliability and validity tests, multiple regression, and moderation analysis. Results indicate that sensory engagement and interactive experience design significantly influence both value co-creation and brand attitude. Perceived scarcity also contributed positively, suggesting that the temporary and exclusive nature of pop-up stores enhances consumer engagement. Cross-channel connectivity, which links offline store experiences with digital touchpoints, further supported value creation by expanding the scope of brand interaction. The moderating analysis revealed that consumers with a high need for uniqueness responded more favorably to these experiential attributes. These findings demonstrate that pop-up stores are not merely short-term promotional venues but strategic platforms for value co-creation between brands and consumers. The study contributes to theoretical discussions by applying and extending the concept of value co-creation within experiential retail contexts. Practically, the results underscore the importance of crafting differentiated and immersive experiences and integrating cross-channel strategies to foster lasting brand relationships.
