Abstract
This study investigates the impact of mindfulness and service orientation on customer orientation and job satisfaction among airline ground staff, with a focus on the mediating role of customer orientation and the moderating effect of gender. A total of 250 valid responses were collected through self-administered and online surveys from employees working at major airports in South Korea, including Incheon, Gimpo, Gimhae, Daegu, and Jeju. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and AMOS. Demographic characteristics were analyzed through frequency analysis, and the reliability and validity of the measurement instruments were assessed using confirmatory factor analysis(CFA), reliability analysis, and correlation analysis. Structural equation modeling(SEM) was employed to test the overall model fit and hypotheses. The mediating effects were examined using bootstrapping procedure, and gender-based moderating effects were tested through multi-group analysis. The findings indicate that among the sub-dimensions of mindfulness, present awareness and attentional focus significantly and positively influenced customer orientation, while decentering and non-judgmental acceptance showed no significant effects. Service orientation had a significant positive effect on customer orientation but did not directly influence job satisfaction. Customer orientation was positively associated with job satisfaction. Furthermore, customer orientation was found to partially mediate the relationships between present awareness, attentional focus, service orientation, and job satisfaction. However, no significant indirect effects were observed for decentering and non-judgmental acceptance. Finally, the multi-group analysis revealed significant moderating effects of gender in the relationships between service orientation and job satisfaction, and between customer orientation and job satisfaction. These results provide valuable insights for airline management by highlighting the importance of mindfulness training and customer-oriented strategies in enhancing employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
