본 논문은 중·고령층의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 장애 유무를 중심으로 비교 분석함으로써, 지역사회 내 사회적 경제적 불평등 구조를 계량적으로 규명하고, 포용적 정책 설계를 위한 기초자료를 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국 고령화패널조사(KLoSA)의 2006~2022년간 방대한 데이터를 활용하였으며, 패널 서열형 로짓 모형을 통해 장애집단(1,065명)과 비장애집단(58,783명)의 삶의 만족도 결정 요인을 비교하였다. 분석 결과, 장애 중·고령층은 비장애인보다 삶의 만족도가 유의미하게 낮았으며, 주요 결정 요인에서도 집단 간 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. 장애인 집단은 주관적 건강 인식과 결혼상태, 자녀 수 등의 사회정서적 요인이 삶의 만족도에 핵심적 영향을 미친 반면, 비장애인 집단은 소득과 자산 등 경제적 요인의 영향력이 더 컸다. 특히 동일한 경제적 자산 소득 조건 변화에 대한 삶의 질 반응도는 장애인 집단에서 상대적으로 낮아, 구조적 배제와 기회의 불균등이 삶의 질에 지속적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 획일적 정책 기조가 아닌, 집단의 특성을 고려한 차별화된 지역사회 기반의 복지정책이 필요함을 함의한다. 본 논문은 삶의 만족도 격차에 대한 실증분석을 통해 사회적 약자 집단에 대한 지역사회의 대응력과 정책 설계 방향에 중요한 통찰을 제공하며, 지역사회학적 논의에 계량적 접근의 가능성을 확장한다는 점에서 학문적·실천적 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
This study assesses the impact of disability on life satisfaction among middle-aged and elderly populations, utilizing data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) spanning 2006 to 2022. Employing a panel ordered logit model, the research meticulously compares the determinants of life satisfaction between groups with disabilities (1,065 individuals) and those without disabilities (58,783 individuals). The findings reveal that individuals with disabilities report significantly lower life satisfaction, with socio-emotional factors such as perceptions of health and marital status exerting a more substantial influence than economic factors, which play a more crucial role in the life satisfaction of the non-disabled group. This notable disparity underscores the ongoing effects of structural exclusion and unequal opportunities on the quality of life, thereby emphasizing the necessity for community-based welfare policies that are specifically tailored to address the unique needs of different groups. By providing a detailed examination of the factors influencing life satisfaction, this study offers valuable insights into effective policy design and community strategies to enhance support for vulnerable groups. It underscores the importance of implementing differentiated, inclusive policies that address social inequalities, thereby contributing significantly to sociological debates and practical policy implementation.
