본 연구는 DEA를 이용한 경영자 능력과 개별기업의 위험 중 재해와의 관련성을 분석한다. 경영자의 능력이 기업에 미치는 영향은 다양하다. 선행연구에서는 재해에 영향을 줄 수 있는 요인을 설문 등을 통해 분석한 결과 최고경영자의 안전에 대한 관심 등이 제시되기도 하지만 경영자의 능력이 재해에 미치는 영향을 다루지는 않았다. 본 연구에서는 경영자 능력은 Demerjian et al. (2012)에 따라 자료포락분석(DEA)를 이용하여 회사특성요소가 설명하지 못하는 회사 효율성을 경영자능력 측정치로 측정하였다. 개별기업의 재해는 재해율(DRATE)과 근로손실일수(DDAY)로 측정하였으며, 재해율에 비하여 근로손실일수가 사고의 경중을 반영할 수 있는 지표라고 판단된다. 분석결과 경영자의 능력과 근로손실일수(DDAY)는 통계적으로 유의한 음(－)의 관계를 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 이는 경영자의 능력이 높으면 개별기업의 중대한 재해를 감소시킬 수 있다고 해석된다. 본 연구의 공헌점은 그 동안 기업의 비재무상황과 경영자의 능력이 연구된 바가 많지 않은 가운데 경영자의 능력이 개별기업의 중대한 재해와 관련성이 있음을 실증적으로 검증하였으며, 개별기업의 중대한 재해에 영향을 미치는 새로운 요인을 발견하여 연구의 범위를 확장하였다는데 있다. 또한 대부분이 사업장단위의 설문조사를 통하여 수집된 자료로 재해요인을 분석한 것에 비하여 본 연구는 기업단위의 공시자료를 통하여 이용하여 재해요인을 분석하였다는 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the relationship between managerial ability using DEA and the risk of disaster among individual firms. The managerial ability impact on a company variously. In the prior literatures, the factors that may affect the disaster were analyzed through questionnaires, and the result showed that the CEO's influence on corporate disaster was existed, but the effect of the managerial ability on the disaster was not yet researched. The managerial ability is defined as managerial competence measure by using the data envelope analysis (DEA) introduced by Demerjian et al. (2012). The disaster of an individual company was measured by DRATE and DDAY, and it is considered that the number of days of lost work is an index that reflects the severity of the accident compared to the accident rate. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the managerial ability and DDAY are statistically significant negative. It is interpreted that if the managerial ability is high, it can reduce the serious disaster of the individual enterprise. The contribution of this study is to demonstrate empirically that managerial ability is related to a major disaster of an individual company, and to expand the scope of the related research by discovering new factors influencing a major disaster of an individual company. In addition, most of the prior literatures were conducted using the survey of the business units., the disclosure data of the enterprise unit, however this study uses the massive disclosure data of th firm level.
