이 연구는 지역사회 토착 엘리트가 지방관을 바라보는 시각과 지역사회의 행정관으로서 지방관이 지역사회에 대한 인식에 대해 비교를 시도했다. 먼저 지역사족의 입장과 시각은 고문서집성에 수록된 서산과 보령지역 경주김씨의 민원자료를 활용하였다. 분석 결과 지역 사족은 19세기 말과 20세기 초 산송과 토지소유권 분쟁의 제기와 진행에 있어 지방관과 지방행정의 조처에 순응하는 모습을 보였다. 그리고 지방관의 관점에서 지역사회에 대한 분석을 시도했다. 분석자료는 노상추가 19세기 초 홍주에서 영장으로 재직하는 내용을 담은 일기이다. 그는 일기에서 지역 사족의 동향을 살피고 송사와 관련하여 지방관과 지역의 입장을 관찰했던 내용을 기술했다. 노상추는 영장이라는 지방관 입지의 제약도 작용하였겠으나 개입보다 관찰자의 입장을 유지했다.
Abstract
This study compared the attitude of community elites-scholar familytoward local officials and local officials' perceptions of the community. Firstly, the attitude of local tribes toward local officials was reviewed. The t arget material is the c ivil complaint document s of t he Hist orical Document Collection, which contains the Gyeongju Kim Clan’s one in Seosan and Boryeong area. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the local elites comply with the administrative execution of local officials in disputes over ancestral mountain and land ownership in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Secondly, this study attempted to analyze local communities from the perspective of local officials. The analysis data are from Noh Sang-chu’s diary which is written in 19th century. In his diary, he looked at the activity of the local clan and observed the positions of local officials and regions in relation to local dispute.
