The U.S Department of Defense recognizes the importance of selecting and managing parts and has established and implemented a parts management policy. In particular, U.S. defense companies are operating a parts selection baseline to prevent proliferation of parts from the development stage, thus reducing total life-cycle cost by reducing procurement costs and effective response to discontinued parts. In this study, we propose counterplan for parts management requirements of major U.S. defense contractors.
