초록

The rapid advancement of technology and modernization of national defense weapon systems have significantly increased both integration and complexity. Consequently, alternatives such as process validation activities are being explored owing to the limitations of inspection activities in determining product pass/fail criteria. Despite these efforts, product inspection remains a critical factor in the quality assurance of weapon systems. In particular, full-dimensional measurements must be conducted for mechanical components to ensure quality. Manufacturers of weapon system components primarily use coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for dimensional measurements. As a contact-based 3D measurement device, a CMM has the advantage of performing repetitive measurements of product shapes. However, the process requires considerable preparation time and effort, and measurement times can vary significantly depending on the operator's experience and skill. Additionally, the full-dimensional measurement of highly complex products is limited, and the establishment of consistent measurement standards and methods is constrained by the low volume and high variety of the production characteristics of weapon systems. Consequently, the measurement of the mechanical components requires significant time and resources. A 3D laser scanner is a noncontact 3D measurement device that compares a designed 3D model with the shape data acquired through a scanner to determine the product pass/fail using the Go/No-Go gauge method. It can measure highly complex shapes that a CMM cannot and reduce the measurement time and effort, regardless of the operator’s experience. This study covers the application of 3D laser scanner-based quality inspection in an OOO multifunctional radar export project. The effectiveness of this technology was verified through Gage R&R and process capability analysis, which confirmed reduced inspection time and costs.
