Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural birth of the modernized sport of taekwondo by comparing the process of the dialogue process between Western sports and the process of traditional taekwondo in the East by using the theoretical system of ADELMAN’s 'A SPORTING TIME'. The results conclude that the form of sports society has led to the structural birth of sports. which demonstrates that Eastern taekwondo leads to two compatible relationship between the self-conscious society with the modern society. Sport commercialism was introduced to the modernization of taekwondo in two different directions. First, it promotes the growth of competitive sports based on the local economy, and the second was to help the growth of vocational sports. Two characteristics essentially differentiate taekwondo. First, taekwondo needs to be seen more in competitive situations in terms of fluid ability and skill. Second, taekwondo has become more rationalized as well as institutionalized. In this study, taekwondo was understood systematically as two classifications; axiomatic and normative rather than expressive. In contrast to the study of competitive sports in the process of modernization of traditional taekwondo in sports, Eastern traditionalism, the influence of leisure sports proved to be important in this study.
