Abstract
The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the structural relationship in which psychological skills of Taekwondo athletes not only have a direct impact on performance but also influence self-management and performance through resilience. The study targeted registered Taekwondo athletes with the Korea Taekwondo Association, using a convenience sampling method. A total of 441 questionnaires collected between January and March 2025 were finally analyzed. The results are as follows. First, the psychological skills of Taekwondo athletes had a positive effect on resilience. Second, the psychological skills of Taekwondo athletes had a positive effect on self-management. Third, resilience had a positive effect on self-management among Taekwondo athletes. Fourth, resilience had a mediating effect in the relationship between psychological skills and self-management of Taekwondo athletes. Therefore, the results of this study aim to provide foundational data for developing effective psychological training programs that can contribute not only to improving Taekwondo athletes' performance but also to enhancing their mental growth and overall quality of athletic life. This is expected to offer practical and useful implications not only for the individual development of Taekwondo athletes but also for related experts such as coaches and sports psychologists.
