과학영재학생의 논문에 나타난 결론부 서술의 특징 분석

초록

이 연구에서는 영재학생들이 작성한 과학 분야 논문의 결론부 구조를 분석하여 특징을 탐색하고, 교육적 시사점을 찾고자 하였다. 2015년부터 2020년 사이에 “과학영재교육” 학술지에 게재된 과학 분야 논문 35편 중 20편을 선별하여 결론부 문장을 분석하였다. 학생들이 작성한 과학 분야 논문은 대체로 4부형이나 5부형으로 이루어졌고, 결론부 제목에 ‘결론’을 명시하는 경향이 있었다. 결론부 문장 중에서 결과요약(24.6 %)과 결과해석(12.3 %) 단계에 해당하는 문장이 가장 많았다. 학생들은 대체로 연구내용, 결과, 논의, 제한점, 결론, 의의, 제언의 순서로 결론부를 작성하고 있었다. 그런데 일부 학생은 개인 소감을 논문의 마지막에 덧붙였다. 그리고 평균보다 적은 문장 수로 연구내용 소개와 결과 요약의 서술에 집중한 일부 논문에서는 논의나 의의 등에 대한 진술이 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과는 학생들이 논문의 결론부를 작성하거나 교수자가 논문을 지도할 때, 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

In this study, by analyzing the structure of the conclusion section in scientific research papers written by gifted students, the characteristics were explored and educational implications were sought. From 2015 to 2020, 20 out of 35 papers published in the “Journal of Science Education for the Gifted” were selected to examine the move and the step of the conclusion section with the genre analysis method. Scientific research papers written by the gifted generally consisted of 4-section or 5-section format, and there was a tendency to specify ‘conclusion’ in the title of the last section. Among the sentences in the conclusion section, the sentences corresponding to the result restatement (24.6%) and the result interpretation (12.3%) steps were the most. In general, science-gifted students were writing the conclusion section in the order of research content, results, discussion, limitations, conclusions, significance, and suggestions. However, some students added their personal impressions at the end of conclusion section. Additionally, in some papers that focused on the summary of the research content and results with fewer than the average number of sentences, it was found that the statement about the discussion or valuation was insufficient. The results of this study can be applied when students write the conclusion section of the paper or when the supervisors guide them.
