Abstract
On February 5, 2016, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention released a report on its findings on a case concerning the liberty deprivation of Mr. Julian Assange, the founder of the Wikileaks. In its Opinion, the Working Group found that the Governments of UK and Sweden have failed to exercise due diligence in the performance of its penal administration and that the liberty deprivation of Mr. Assange constitutes a form of arbitrary detention within its own mandates. It also presented the restoration of human rights of Mr. Assange and an enforceable right of compensation as proper measures of remedy.
