초록

The purpose of this work was to investigate the factors affecting the three types of Korean plosives, i.e. tense, aspirated and lenis, from the spontaneous speech corpus. The factors were the VOT, the release burst, the post-burst aspiration and the following vowel onset. They were automatically extracted by a Praat script. Except for the duration factor of VOT, the other three factors were examined in terms of their spectral moments and tilts. The moments of the release burst in particular were extracted by moving a 10 ms-window every 5 ms up to seven frames, i.e. 40 ms in total, which allowed us to see the dynamic aspects of the bursts. The statistical analyses showed that the four factors are significantly different in terms of the three types of Korean plosives as well as in their place of articulation. The factors turned out to be as appropriate in the classification of the Korean plosives as the well-known factors such as the F0, H1, H2 and F2.
