띄어쓰기 규범에 대한 고찰 -북한 규범과 비교를 통해-

The purpose of this study to review the problems of word-spacing and suggest the alternative by comparing them with North Korean norms. Norms must be feasible and acceptable to the ordinary people. In other words, for a norm to be authoritative, ordinary people must follow and use it. However, compared to other orthography, it is hard to say that the word-spacing regulation are well followed. Because the current word-spacing regulation is based on the grammatical unit of ‘word’, it is complicated and difficult for ordinary people to understand, and it is also inconsistent because the word must be checked through a dictionary. Considering that the purpose of word-spacing is to convey accurate meaning and readability, word-spacing regulation need to be described concisely and consistently unlike other orthography. Based on this problem, this paper compares the word-spacing regulation between the South and North Korea, and then proposes to modify the word-spacing regulation in consideration of dependence. It is a norm that should also be made acceptable to ordinary people through education. However, unlike the current word-spacing norm, it is significant in terms of simplicity and coherence of norm.
