본 연구에서는 한국 인바운드 관광의 주요 수요국가인 8개국(일본/미국/중국/필리핀/홍콩/러시아/태국/영국)을 대상으로 한국관광 수요의 결정요인을 비교분석하였다. 본 연구에서 채택한 분석모형은 한국관광 수요와 소득, 그리고 여행가격 변수들로 구성된 벡터자기회귀모형이었으며, 단위근 검정 및 공적분 검정을 수행하였고, 최우추정방법으로 공적분 벡터를 추정하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 태국을 제외한 7개국의 한국관광 수요와 소득, 그리고 여행가격(환율과 도착지물가 혹은 환율과 상대물가) 사이에는 장기균형관계가 존재하는 것으로 판단되었다. 둘째, 한국관광 수요에 대한 소득의 장기탄력성은 국가별로 상당한 차이가 존재하며, 소득의 장기탄력성이 높은 국가로는 미국/러시아/필리핀/중국 등을 들 수 있다. 셋째, 여행가격의 장기탄력성 추정결과에 의하면 일본의 한국관광 수요는 환율과 도착지물가에 대해 비탄력적이며, 홍콩의 한국관광 수요는 도착지물가에 대해 비탄력적인 반면에 미국/중국/필리핀/러시아/영국의 한국관광 수요는 환율과 도착지물가 혹은 환율과 상대물가 모두에 대해 탄력적이다.
Abstract
This paper investigates empirical characteristics of Korean inbound tourism demand; selected major departure countries are Japan, USA, China, Philippine, Hong Kong, Russia, Thailand and UK. This paper builds two vector-autoregressive models, performs ADF unit root tests and Johansen co-integration tests, and estimates co-integrating vectors by maximum likelihood. The determinants of Korean inbound tourism demand, in this paper, are income and travel price variables such as real GDP, exchange rate, destination price and relative price. Major findings of this paper could be summarized as follows. First, long-run equilibrium relationships between Korean inbound tourism demand and its determinants are confirmed in all countries except Thailand. Second, estimated long-run income elasticities are significantly different; the most elastic countries are USA, Russia, Philippine and China. Third, according to estimated long-run travel price elasticities, Korean inbound tourism demand of Japan is inelastic to exchange rate and destination price; that of Hong Kong is inelastic to destination price; while those of USA, China, Philippine, Russia and UK are all elastic to exchange rate and destination price(or relative price).
