환상 아동서사문학에 나타나는 소통의 문제와 타자성의 복원 가능성

소통부재의 문제는 성인과 아동, 권력주체와 타자의 관계가 일방성과 동일성을띠고 있는 공간에서 두드러진다. 본고에서는 권력주체의 동일성 추구가 소통부재의 공간을 만든다고 보고, 최근 환상 아동서사문학에 나타나는 소통부재의 공간을 분석하고 그 특성을 드러내고자 하였다. 환상은 겉으로 드러난 세계 이면의 진실을 드러내어 권력주체의 담론에 틈을 만들고 억압된 타자의 목소리가 나타날수 있도록 한다. 이에 환상 아동서사문학 작품은 견고하고 매끄러운 권력 담론 아래 존재하는 현재 아이들과 타자들의 타자성을 복원하는 역할을 한다. 『디다와 소풍 요정』, 『바느질 소녀』, 『도둑왕 아모세』에서 작가들은 공통적으로권력주체가 동일성을 강요하는 공간에서 타자성은 억압되고 배제되며, 소통은 사라진다고 본다. 이에 작가들은 환상세계를 통해 타자성의 복원 가능성을 타진한다. 『디다와 소풍 요정』에서 작가는 권력주체에 압도되어 가정에서도 개성을 잃어버린 어른들의 모습을 보여주면서 우리 사회의 한 면을 잘라내 독자 앞에 전시한다. 이를 통해 작가는 현실에 대해 독자에게 설교하는 대신, 우리의 민낯을 그려냄으로써 독자 스스로 소통부재의 공간을 돌아볼 수 있게 한다. 또한 작가는 소풍요정이라는 환상장치를 통해 파편화되지 않은 타자성이 드러나는 공간의 가능성을 열어둔다. 『바느질 소녀』는 동일성의 공동체에서 억압된 타자들을 치유하는 타자의 모습을 통해 권력주체의 폭력을 고발하고 그 힘에 대항하는 힘의 가능성을 보여준다. 권력주체와 그에 동의하는 성인인물들은 소녀를 제거하고 매끄러운 동일성의 공간을 유지하고자 하지만, 아이들은 거지소녀가 구축한 환상세계를 통해 타자성을 드러내는 존재로 살아가거나, 과감히 소녀를 따라 ‘아버지’의 지배담론 밖으로 걸어 나감으로써 주체의 동일성을 전복한다. 『도둑왕 아모세』는 절대 권력이 타자를 억압하는 세계에서 새로운 정체성을 구축해가는 연약한 타자들을 통해 타자성의 복원 가능성과 그 이후에 새롭게 형성될 정체성에 대해 긍정한다. 하늘에서 떨어진 신, ‘스핑크스’는 아이들에게 길을 지시하는 대신, 아이들이 스스로 문제를 풀어나가도록 돕는 조력자의 역할을 맡아 아이들 곁에 머물며 함께 한다. 이 환상장치를 통해 작가는 아이들 내부에 존재하는 타자적 힘을 긍정하고 조력하는 모습의 어른을 제안한다. 이러한 성인과 아동은 자신들의 타자성을 통해 소통 가능한 공간을 만들어낼 수 있다.
Abstract
The critique of the absence of communication and search of communicability has been made through children literature texts. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the space of the absence of communication and search that characteristic in fantasy children literature. The absence of communication is revealed where the identity of the subject is imposed unilaterally. The fantasy that creates a gap in the discourse of the subject of power and reveals the oppression of Others show the truth behind the seemingly unfolded world. Thus, fantasy children literature restores Otherness in children who are under a solid and smooth discourse of power. The writers of “Dida and the Picnic Fairy”, “A Girl Who is Sewing”, “Thief King, Amose” say that where the subject forces identity, Otherness is suppressed and the communication disappears. Therefore, the writers explore the possibility of restoration of Otherness through the fantasy world. In “Dida and the Picnic fairy”, the writer cuts out one side of our society and displays and displays it in front of the reader, showing the adult characters who are overwhelmed by the subject of power and who have lost their personality even at home. In this way, the writer makes it possible for the readers to look at their reality instead of preaching to the readers about the reality. “A girl who is sewing” shows the possibility of the Other’s power against the subject of power and reports the subject’s violence. The subject of power and the adult who agree with it try to eliminate the girl and maintain a space of identity; but, the children want to live as persons who reveal Otherness through the fantasy world made by that girl. When the girl has to leave, the children refuse the identity of the subject of power by going out of the discourse of the Father along with the girl. “Amose, the Thief King” affirms the possibility of restoration of Otherness and Amose’s new identity where absolute power suppresses the Other. Through the Sphinx who is the god of Ancient Egypt, the writer proposes an adult character who affirms the Other’s power existing inside children. These adults and children can create communicability through their Otherness. Through fantasy in the texts, the writers show possibility of the restoration of Otherness, the affirmation of communicable society and subversion of the subject’s identity.
