Abstract

"The small ball that Midget shot(ꡔ난장이가 쏘아올린 작은 공ꡕ)" has been tended to be read by modernism or realism codes. But It is impossible to read properly a text by only two codes. So this paper presents the real persona of Midget(난장이) by various viewpoints. We are perplexed with Midget's surprising death. The death has been interpreted as choice the person lose the vision toward future or paradoxical sublime of tragedy. But these are in modern points. We must have post-modern point. By post-modern point, Midget is the nomade and Nakwongu Hangbokdong is the heterotop&iacute;a. The people living that village have various recognition toward life. Midget cognizes the fantastic world scattered here and there. In this world, time does not flow linerly, and the far distance is not different from near distance. But the narrator or focalizor does not the concept or idea. In addition, Midget does not speak anything. Keeping silence is the trait of nomade. So between nomade and non-nomade(monad), the communication does not go smoothly. So we, the readers must interpret this text as silent rhetoric or absence of communication. In this reason, this text will be read with new points or visions.
