시각장애인의 디지털 사진 활용이 갖는 사회적 의미-시각장애인 사진전 ‘마음으로 보는 세상’을 중심으로-

Abstract

The popularization of photography is due to the propagation of digital camera. The features of digital photography are immediacy, simplicity in control, and inexpensiveness. Because of these features, the general public can use photography as a method of self expression. However, the visually disabled has trouble in use of photography. Taking picture is based on seeing an object. It does not mean that people who have trouble with seeing cannot take pictures. Even though photography is one of visual arts, ease use and immediacy of digital camera could make the blind possible to use it as a method of communication with other people. The modern society is called as visual image era. The wide use of digital camera has caused the organization of photography clubs in virtual space. Anybody who likes photography can be a member of clubs. Members have conversation about their photography whether it is good or not, and how they feel about it. The blind can also join these clubs to build new connection and to communicate other people; of course they also can post their pictures. Through it, the blind can inspire its self confidence which has lowered as the blind lost sight. In addition, photography can be used to improve their life. To check if photography can help the blind to improve its self confidence is the purpose of this study.
