The desire for women to look beautiful and valuable is a natural instinct. However, one of the criticisms of the appearance that is becoming more prevalent in modern society is the satirical and grotesque expression of the body, which is an eternal subject in art. This study focused on the works of ORLAN, Niki de Saint Phalle, Cindy Sherman,and Debbie Han, which expressed the modern women’s body in grotesque paradoxical images. Although most of their works contain grotesque images, it was understood that not all of them reproduce the same meaning. Therefore, this researcher hopes that through works, we can freely demonstrate our unique individuality and characteristics since we are already born with various types of beauty, and that the role of art is to enable people to recognize the importance of their own beauty.
