유아의 개인적 내러티브와 가상적 내러티브의 구조 발달 양상 및 구성요소에 관한 연구

본 연구의 목적은 3세에서 6세에 이르는 유아들이 산출하는 개인적 내러티브와 가상적 내러티브의 발달양상을 살펴보는 것이었다. 구체적으로 개인적·가상적 내러티브의 발달수준, 내러티브를 구성하는 요소의 출현 여부, 내러티브에 나타난 문장의 수와 논리적 응집장치의 사용에 초점을 맞추었고, 두 가지 유형의 내러티브가 각 측면에서 어떻게 다른지도 비교하였다. 총 263명의 3, 4, 5, 6세 유아를 대상으로 면접을 통해 개인적 내러티브와 가상적 내러티브를 수집하여 분석한 결과, 개인적 내러티브가 가상적 내러티브보다 구조적으로 먼저 발달되는 것으로 나타났으며, 연령의 증가에 따라 내러티브의 발달수준과 논리적 응집장치의 사용이 높아지는 양상을 나타냈다. 또한 개인적 내러티브보다 가상적 내러티브에서 논리적 응집장치 사용 비율이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study explores the developmental characteristics of personal and fictional narratives of 3 to 6-year-old children. The study focuses on the developmental levels, structural components, mean length of clauses, and coherence of the children's narratives, and compares each aspect in both types of narrative. Two hundreds sixty three children were interviewed personally and each child produced one personal and one fictional narrative. Analysis of the narratives reveals that the development of personal narratives precedes that of fictional narratives. As well, in this study, the structure of the developmental level, mean length of clauses, and cohesiveness improved as the age of the subjects increased. The use of cohesive devices in fictional narratives were higher than in the personal narratives. The implications of these findings are discussed in relation to early childhood language practices in Korea.
