‘영유아 그림책 읽기’ 관련 연구 경향 분석: 국내 학술지를 중심으로

본 연구는 영유아의 그림책읽기 관련 연구들의 경향을 확인하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해1997년 이후 국내 학술지에 발표 된 총 135편의 논문에 대해 연구 주제와 연구 방법을 분석하였으며, 주요 연구 결과에 대해 고찰하였다. 그 결과를 살펴보면, 우선 관련 논문 135편이26개 학술지에 소개되었으며 2008년을 기점으로 그 편수가 증가하여 다양한 연구들이 행해졌다. 둘째, 연구 주제를 7개 범주로 구분하여 확인한 결과로는 성인의 읽기지도 전략에 관한 내용이 가장 높은 비중으로 나타나고, 그림책 매개활동의 효과, 성인과의 상호작용, 유아의 읽기 행위, 그림책 내용 분석, 유아 반응, 그리고 그림책 유형 관련 순서로 그림책 유형에관한 연구가 가장 적게 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 방법에 있어 만 5세 대상이 가장 많고 그 다음으로 부모와 만 3세 미만을 대상으로 한 연구가 많이 행해졌다. 연구 유형으로는 양적연구가가장 높은 비율을 차지하였으며 이는 주로 실험연구로 검사를 통한 결과에 대해 차이 검증이 행해졌다. 반면 질적연구 방법으로 주로 관찰이 이루어졌으며 이차적으로 면담이 행해졌다. 주요 연구 결과에 대해서는 유아요인, 성인요인, 그림책요인, 그리고 그림책 매개 활동의네 가지 범주로 구분하여 그 내용을 분석 종합하여 기술하였으며 이를 토대로 후속 연구를위한 연구 과제를 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the research trends on picture book reading for young children in Korea. It analyzed the articles that have been published in major Korean academic journals since 1997 focusing on the research topic, method and outcome. First of all, a total of 135 articles have been published in 26 academic journals during this period and, in particular, the year 2008 was pivotal for the increase in the number and diversification of such research. Secondly, with regard to the research topics, the majority of articles involved adult strategies for reading guidance, followed by the effectiveness of picture book-centered activities, adult interaction, children’s reading behaviors, content analysis of materials, children’s responses to the medium, and the type of picture books. Thirdly, with regard to research methodology, the most frequent research targets were five year olds, parents, and children below three. In terms of the types of research published, quantitative studies were the most popular, primarily through employing experiments to verify the difference in outcomes. In contrast, qualitative studies most frequently resorted to observation, while interviews were also implemented for ancillary support. There search outcomes were explained in accordance with four factors: the children, adults, picture books, and picture book centered activities. The study concludes with discussions on limitations and suggestions for future studies.
