Abstract

Prior to 2015, the international community had two agendas for ducation. One is the achievement of 'universal primary education' included in the Millennium Developmental Goals (MDGS), which lasted 15 years from 2001 to 2015 and the other was the 'Education for All': EFA below). These two agendas are integrated into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015. In addition to education, the SDGs incorporate many of the international missions that have been scattered so far and have been adopted by the United Nations Development Summit in September 2015, laying the foundation for an important policy of the international community for the next 15 years. The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets. Education is the fourth goal and early childhood education is included among the seven goals. In other areas of education, discussions on the meaning of SDGs have already been carried out and the implementation plan has been studied. However, concepts have not yet been introduced in early childhood education. Therefore, this study suggests the implications of SDGs for early childhood education through comparison with the process of establishing SDGs, content, and education of international society.
