이 연구의 목적은 레인의 유아교육사상을 고찰하고 그 교육적 시사점을 밝히는 데 있다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 먼저 레인의 유아교육사상의 형성배경을 고찰하고, 그의유아교육사상을 고찰하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 교육적 시사점을 도출하였다. 연구방법은 레인의저서 Talks to Parents and Teachers (1928)를 중심으로 분석하고 논의한 문헌연구이다. 레인의 유아교육사상이 지니는 교육적 시사점은 유아는 자기 형성력을 지닌 자기 교육적 존재이며, 유아의 놀이권의 보장과 자발적 놀이의 중요성을 시사한다. 그리고 교육의 궁극적인 목적은 영적, 정신적 존재인 유아의 행복에 있다. 또한 교육자의 참다운 권위는 오직 사랑이며, 이러한권위는 유아로부터 주어진다. 확고한 교육적 신념과 실천적 경험에 근거한 레인의 유아교육상은 유아를 발달론적 관점에서 이해하면서도 완전한 개별적, 인격적 존재로 이해하고, 유아교육의 목적으로서 행복과 그 방법적 원리로서 신뢰와 자유, 그리고 사랑에 근거한 교육을 주장하고 있다는 점에서 오늘날 유아중심, 놀이중심으로 변화를 모색하고 있는 한국의 유아교육 현실에 의미 있는 시사를 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine Lane's early childhood education idea and to reveal its educational implications. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the background of Lane's formation of early childhood education thought was first considered, his early childhood education thought was considered, and educational implications were derived based on this. The research method was mainly literature research, and after analyzing Lane's book Talks to Friends and Teachers(1928), it was discussed it was discussed. The educational implications of Lane's idea of early childhood education are as follows. First, infants are self-educational beings with self-forming power. Second, it suggests the importance of guaranteeing children's right to play and voluntary play. Third, the ultimate purpose of education is the happiness of infants, who are spiritual and spiritual beings. Fourth, the true authority of an educator is only love, and this authority is given from infants. Lane's Early Childhood Education Award, based on firm educational beliefs and practical experiences, has implications for the reality of early childhood education in Korea, which understands infants from a developmental point of view but as complete individual and personal beings and insists on trust and freedom as early childhood education.
