Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the clusters of collaborative learning outcomes and learning process and collaborative learning interest. For the purpose, cluster analysis was conducted using data from a total of 143 college students. As a result of cluster analysis, four cluster types are revealed Cluster 1 was named as an ‘excellent group for individual learning’ because it was a group with high individual quiz scores but low team output scores. Cluster 2 was named as an ‘excellent group for collaborative learning’ because it was a group with high team output scores but low individual quiz scores. Cluster 3 was named an ‘integrated learning poor group’ because both individual quiz scores and team output scores were low. Cluster 4 was named an ‘integrated learning excellent group’ because both individual quiz scores and team output scores were high. ANOVA was conducted to analyze the difference in the learning process by cluster, and as a result, Cluster 4 showed significantly higher scores than Clusters 1 and 3. In order to analyze the difference in collaborative laerning interest by cluster, MANOVA was conducted, and there was a significant difference between groups (Wilks' Lambda=.76, p<.05). Specifically, in sub-constructs, Cluster 4 showed a significantly higher score than Cluster 2, Cluster 4 showed a significantly higher score than Cluster 1 in relevance, Cluster 4 showed a significantly higher score than Cluster 1 and Cluster 3, and Cluster 4 showed a significant higher score than all other clusters in satisfaction. Based on these results, at the end of the study, the points to be considered in the instructional design of collaborative learning were discussed, focusing on the differences between each cluster.
