대학원생의 학업성취 및 그 영향 요인들 간 구조적 관계: 가치 인식 및 흥미의 매개효과를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 일반대학원생을 대상으로 대학원 연구 경험의 주요 영향요인인 지도교수의 역할수행, 동료 간의 상호작용, 연구 인프라와 연구에 대한 가치 인식 및 흥미 그리고 학업성취 등의 교육 성과 변인들 간의 영향 관계를 실증적으로 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 일반대학원생을 대상으로 2021년 8월 약 4주간에 걸쳐 참가자 모집 및 설문 수합을 하였으며, 수집된 311개의 자료 가운데 306개를 분석에 활용하였다. 수집된 자료는 측정 도구의 타당성 검증을 거친 후, 최종적으로 지도교수의 역할수행, 동료 간 상호작용, 연구 인프라가 연구에 대한 가치 인식 및 흥미를 매개로 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 연구모형을 검증하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 지도교수의 역할수행은 연구에 대한 가치인식 및 흥미 그리고 학업성취에 모두 유의한 영향을 미치며, 가치인식 및 흥미를 매개로 학업성취에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 동료 간 상호작용은 학업성취에는 유의한 영향을 미치는 반면, 가치인식 및 흥미에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 인프라는 학업성취에 대한 직접효과는 유의하지 않고, 가치인식 및 흥미를 매개할 때 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 연구자 양성을 목적으로 한 일반대학원의 연구 환경을 실증적으로 검증함으로써 대학, 정부, 사회적 차원에서 대학원생 지원을 위한 단서를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to empirically validate the relationships between cognitive (academic achievement) and affective (perceived value of research and research interest) outcomes of graduate students and crucial factors related to their research experience such as advisor support, peer interaction, and research infrastructure. Participant were recruited for about a month in August 2021, and 306 out of the 311 data collected were used for analysis using a structural equation modeling. This study verified the research model that academic achievement will be influenced by advisor support, peer interaction, and research infrastructure, and these direct relationships will also be mediated by perceived value of research and research interest. Results indicate that advisor support had a significant direct effect on both perceived value of research and research interest, and academic achievement, and also had a significant mediation effect on academic achievement through perceived value of research and research interest. Next, peer interactions had a significant direct effect on academic achievement, but not on perceived value of research and research interest. Lastly, research infrastructure did not have a significant direct effect on academic achievement, but had a significant effect when mediated through perceived value of research and research interest. This study provides empirical clues for graduate student support at the university, government, and social level by verifying the research environment of graduate schools in South Korea.
