기악음악으로부터 디오니소스적 음악 고찰

초록

본 논문에서는 니체의『비극의 탄생 Die Geburt der Tragödie』에서 나타난 주요 미적(美的) 의문들 중 하나인 ‘음악으로부터?(Aus der Musik?)’를 고찰하고 자한다. 니체는 음악이 다른 예술 분야와 달리 모든 예술을 뛰어넘는 근원적인성격을 갖는다는 점에 주목했다. 니체에 따르면 디오니소스적 예술로서 음악은고통을 외면하지 않고 직시하여 이를 통해서 현상들 전체를 다시 살아나게 하는영원하고도 근원적인 힘*이다. 따라서 니체는 인간의 근원적 모순과 고통을 드러내주고 창조적인 삶으로 연결시켜주는 ‘디오니소스적 음악’의 부활을 꿈꾸었다. 니체는 아폴론적인 것과 디오니소스적인 것의 이중성을 그리스 음악의 대표적 악기인 아울로스(Aulos)와 키타라(Kithara)에서 찾았다. 그리스 신화에서 아 폴로의 악기는 현악기의 일종인 키타라로 이성적인 것이고, 디오니소스의 악기는 관악기의 일종인 아울로스로 감성적인 것이다. 논자는 그리스 악기인 키타라와 아울로스로부터 나타나는 불협화음이 합주와 변주를 통해 화음으로 발전하는 것처럼 음악이 삶의 근원적인 고통과 부조리함으로부터 인간을 구원할 수 있는 삶의 절대긍정임을 보여주고자 한다.

Abstract

In this paper, we will consider “From music?”, that is one of the major aesthetic issues of Nietzsche’s Die Geburt der Tragödie. Nietzsche knew that music was different from all other arts, but it had a character and an origin beyond them. According to Nietzsche, as a Dionysian art, music represents the eternal and original artistic power that revolves the whole world of phenomena, through which it can face without disturbing pain. Therefore, Nietzsche dreamed of the resurrection of ‘Dionysian music’, which reveals the fundamental contradictions and sufferings of human beings and connects them to a dynamic and creative life. Nietzsche was able to find the duality of Apollo and Dionysian in Aulos and Kithata, the representative instruments of Greek music. Because kithata, a kind of stringed instrument in Greek mythology, was an instrument of Apollo, and aulos, a kind of wind instrument, was an emotional instrument of Dionysus. Now the author the writer hope to show that the dissonance found in the imitation form of Greek music, Kithara and Aulos instruments, is transformed into a harmonious sound through mutation and reconciliation do.
