본 연구는 니체의 도덕철학에서 핵심 개념이라고 할 수 있는 양심과 양심의 가책의 문제를 제시하고 있다. 특히 글쓴이는 니체의 양심과 양심의 가책이라 는 개념이 전통형이상학과 같이 이분법적이고, 분절적인 개념으로 해석되는 것 이 아니라, 기억과 망각을 둘러싼 역동적인 충동의 과정이라는 점을 제시하고자 한다. 이것은 니체가 인간을 단순히 이성적이고 합리적인 존재로 규정하지 않으 며, 다양한 충동으로 이해하고 있기 때문이다. 즉, 니체에게 인간은 끊임없는 충 동을 실현하는 예술가이다. 니체는 인간이 이와 같은 충동의 예술적 실현을 통 해 새로운 가치를 창조하고 사회적 질서를 형성할 수 있는 가능적 존재로 본다. 결론적으로, 니체의 도덕철학에서 핵심이 되는 양심, 양심과 가책, 주인도덕과 노예도덕과 같은 개념들은 이성이 아니라, 충동을 기반으로 해석되어야 한다.
Abstract
This study presents the issue of conscience (Gewissen) and bad conscience (schlechte Gewissen), which can be considered core concepts in Nietzsche’s moral philosophy. The author particularly aims to show that Nietzsche’s concepts of conscience and bad conscience should not be interpreted as dichotomous and segmented concepts like in traditional metaphysics, but rather as dynamic processes of impulses surrounding memory (Gedächtnis) and forgetting (Vergessen). This is because Nietzsche does not define humans as merely rational and reasonable beings but understands them through their various impulses. In other words, for Nietzsche, humans are artists who constantly realize their impulses. Nietzsche views humans as potential beings who can create new values and form social order through the artistic realization of such impulses. Consequently, in Nietzsche’s moral philosophy, core concepts such as conscience, bad conscience, master morality, and slave morality should be interpreted based on impulses rather than reason.
