본 연구에서는 한 산업 내에서 전략적 연계를 통해 형성된 외부 네트워크를 연구대상으로 하여, 우선 동일한 산업 내에서 기업들 간 전략적 연계로 형성된 네트워크가 어떠한 모습을 띄고 있는지, 즉 한 산업 내 전략적으로 강하게 연계되어 있는 다수의 전략블록(Strategic Block) 이 존재하는지, 또 전략블록이 존재한다면 어떠한 형태로 존재하는지, 마지막으로 전략적 연계의 결과로 형성된 전략블록 간 성과의 차이가 어떠한지를 규명하고자 했다. 그 결과, 산업 내에는 상호간 전략적으로 강하게 연계되어 있는 다수의 전략블록이 존재하고, 지배적인 기업이 존재하는 사업영역에서는 그렇지 않은 사업영역에 비해 보완적 블록 형태의 비중이 높게 나타나며, 또한 전략블록 간에 유의적인 성과차이가 없음이 드러났다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의와 한계, 후속 연구에 대해 논하였다.
Abstract
This research attempts to provide empirical evidences on the strategic linkages in the semi- conductor industry relying on the network analysis methods. Based on the analytic framework of ‘strategic groups’(based on similarities in the strategic capabilities of the firms) and ‘strategic blocks’(based on the similarities in their strategic linkages) in the global industry structure, this research attempts to examine three hypotheses on the formation of the strategic linkages. Following the empirical test on the existence of the strategic blocks in the semi-conductor industry(Hypothesis1), this research shows the higher tendency of forming complementary blocks in the presence of the dominant firms(Hypothesis2). Finally there will be a test on the performance differential among the strategic blocks(Hypothesis3).
