Abstract
The study examines the moderating effect of the types of local network in the relationship between subsidiary's strategic role and performance. Local networks are classified into two; market network composed mainly of local suppliers or distributors and business network of competitors, public institutions, industry associations. With 121 foreign-invested subsidiaries doing business in Korea, the study tested whether market network or business network moderates the relationship between subsidiary's implementor role focusing on operational efficiency and its performance using SEM (structural equation model) based on PLS (partial least square) method. The result found that market network positively interacted with the relationship between the implementor role and its performance but it did not interacted with business network. As a result the study confirmed that subsidiary's implementor role is effectively and efficiently accomplished by using market network.
