구술사 방법론은 한국문학 연구자들에게 기존의 문헌 연구와는 별도의 자료와 시각을 제공한다. 무엇보다도 원로 문인들의 구술을 통해 문학사를 보다 풍부하고 진실하게 재구성할 수 있게 한다. 구술사는 개인의 경험과 기억내용을 구술로 재현, 증언하고 그 구술자료를 체계적으로 수집, 해석하여 사료로 활용하는 것을 말한다. 그것은 공적 기록만큼이나 사적 기억도 동등하게 존중하기 때문에 사회적 약자의 과거를 훨씬 진실하고 공정하게 재구성한다. 이에 따라 구술사 방법론은 주로 문단의 주류 원로의 생애사를 재구성하고 비주류 원로의 사건 관련 증언을 녹취한다. 사망 이전의 원로를 인터뷰하되 반드시 표현을 그대로 녹취하여 채록 연구자의 첨삭, 개작을 배제함으로써 사료의 가치를 높인다. 구술사 방법론을 통해 궁극적으로 역사의 민주화를 꾀하고 기존 문학사의 빈 공간을 채우며, 비주류 분야의 복권을 통해 새로운 연구 지평을 열 수 있다고 생각한다.
Abstract
Oral history methodology provides researchers of Korean literature with materials and views different from existing literature review. The history of literature can be reconstructed more richly and truthfully through oral statements. Oral history means reproducing and witnessing individuals’ experiences and memories with oral statements, and collecting, interpreting and utilizing oral materials. Because personal memories are considered as important as public records, the past of the weak in the society is reconstructed much more truthfully and fairly. Thus the life history of major seniors in the circle of literature is reconstructed, and minor seniors are interviewed about past incidents. The contents of interviews with elders alive have a high value as historical materials as they are preserved as they are without addition and modification. Ultimately oral history brings democracy to history, fills voids in existing literature history, and opens new horizons of research through the restoration of nonmainstream areas.
