21세기 아세아 교회를 위한 한국 신학교의 역할

한국 신학교에서 유학하고 있는 아세아권의 신학생들이 최근 급증하였다. 또한, 아세아의 교회와 신학교육이 많은 변화를 경험하였다. 과연 변화하는 아세아 신학 교육 환경 속에서 한국 신학교의 역할은 무엇인가? 이 질문에 답을 하기 위해 아세아의 신학 교육 환경이 변하고 있음을 살펴보고, 이러한 변화하는 환경 속에서 한국 신학교의 역할을 아세아연합신학대학교로 제한하여 세 가지를 제안하였다. 이 연구는 선교학적 관점에서 교육 정책에 관한 것이며, 한정된 자원들을 효과적으로 사용하는 것을 통해 교육 목적을 성취하는 방법이 무엇인가에 대해 탐구하는 것이다. 이 연구의 전제는, 복음주의 신학을 아세아 교회에 전파되게 하고 증진시키는 것은 복음주의 신학을 가진 신학교의 책무이고, 따라서 복음주의 신학을 견지하고 아세아신학연맹의 역사에서 많은 기여를 했던 아세아연합신학대학교를 구체적인 예로 사용하였다. 이 연구는 세 가지를 제안하였다. 첫째, 목회자가 아닌 미래 신학자를 양성해야 한다. 둘째, 아세아의 신학자들에게 연구 기회를 제공해야 한다. 셋째, ACTS의 교수진이 해외 교육 봉사 하는 것을 고려해야 한다.
Abstract
In recent years, the number of Asian students studying theology in Korea has increased drastically. The Asian church and the theological education of the Asian church have experienced many changes in last forty years. What is a role of a Korean seminary in this changing environment of the Asian theological education? To answer this, I first probed the changed environment of the Asian theological education. Then, I proposed three ways how a Korean seminary may help the Asian church. This study looked at educational policy from the missiological perspective. It sought to answer how the educational goal of a seminary can be met with the limited resources. I limited the discussion to one particular seminary, Asian Center for Theological Studies and Mission (ACTS). ACTS has kept Evangelicalism as a core identity of the institution and contributed greatly to the formation and development of Asia Theological Association. I suggested that the school consider training theological scholars, providing research opportunities to Asian scholars, and supporting seminaries in Asia by seconding its professors to them for a semester.
