Abstract

Behind the revival and growth of the Korean Church after the Korean War, there was generous support from the American Church. The Korean War brought religious, organizational and financial difficulties to the Korean Church. Major members of the Church were sacrificed, the organization collapsed, its believers were scattered, and there was little money to run its ministries. At that time, the American Church became an important source of finance for the Korean church, which was able to reorganize its organization This study examines the support of the American Church, in particular the support of the American Methodist Church to Korea Church. First, from 1950 to 1955, the amount supported by the American Methodist Church is sorted by year. This study also deals with the reliance of the Korean Methodist Church on such support. The background on the increase in support of the American Methodist Church is also to be identified. There was a $1.6 million donation from the American Methodist Church on November 14, 1954. This study also looks at how the subsidy was used by the Korean Methodist Church. And the results were checked in this paper. The purpose of this study is to show that the American Methodist Church is an important benefactor to the survival, restoration and development of the Korean Methodist Church.
