영화 <기생충>에 나타난 서브텍스트로서의 상징과 국가적 알레고리

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the format and strategy of the film reproduction of Bong Joon-ho's film “Parasite”. The result shows that Bong Joon-ho is approaching globalism and localism while contributing to film themes and emotions through his Korean identity as a subtext and national allegory. Bong Joon-ho has implanted symbols as subtexts and national allegory in the customs of genre films. The director has revealed the theme of his realistic film through it and expressed the structural conflict in modern society. It can also be said to be one of the reenactments of the director's political unconsciousness. If the main plot is a genre that seems to be a mixture of black comedy and thriller to bring the issue of the rich and poor of globalism to the fore, in the subtext, the director shows the most Korean and localism as Korean. South Korea's food, tutor culture, lifestyle and social consciousness, diplomatic issues with Japan, and North Korea's nuclear issue. He recreates the thoughts and customs contained in the identity as a Korean, the South Korea of East Asia, through episodes and lines. As such, the problems, thoughts, and motivations behind the lines are symbolized as subtexts and allegorized as techniques in Bong Joon-ho's film, the cinematic theme deepens. This is the way director Bong Joon-ho puts “sentiment” and “emotion” into the movie and externalizes the topic. The symbolic combination of globalism as universality and localism as individuality and diversity is the strategy that created Bong Joon-ho's new realism and interesting realistic films. This is a new aesthetic expression that goes beyond the gap between realism and post-realism (symbolism and allegory) and simultaneously approaches popularity and art and film aesthetics.
