세대통합예배에 대한 교육주체들의 인식과기독교교육적 함의

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions of educators onintergenerational worship and to suggest Christian education implicationsbased on the findings. One of the many problems of the Korean churchis the separation and conflict within the faith community. In particular,the conflict between generations within the church is becoming more andmore intense. One of the ways to overcome these conflicts is to practiceintergenerational worship. Intergenerational worship is defined as worship that brings allgenerations together. According to the Bible and the history of thechurch, the original worship was intergenerational, with adults andchildren worshiping together. The benefits of intergenerational worshipinclude improved relationships between generations, establishment ofcommunity, transmission of faith between generations, formation of acommunity culture of caring and communication, and spiritual growth ofparticipants. This study analyzed how people who participate in the intergenerationalworship service perceive it. A total of 458 people participated in thisstudy, including educators, Sunday school teachers, parents, andstudents. The research questionnaire consisted of 24 items, includingworship effectiveness, personal faith growth, motivation to participate andeducational engagement, developmental stage reflection level, generationalintegration, intention to spread, intention to practice, and satisfaction. The results show that the mean scores were relatively high formotivation and engagement, intention to practice, and intentionto spread, but relatively low for developmental appropriateness andpersonal faith growth. In terms of intention to spread intergenerationalworship, Church ministers had a statistically higher mean score thanteachers of elementary and youth groups. In terms of satisfaction withintergenerational worship, those who attend less than 100 churches had astatistically higher mean score than those who attend 101-500 churchesor 501-1000 churches. On the other hand, generational integration wasfound to be a common factor affecting the intention to spread, intentionto practice, and satisfaction. Based on these findings, Christian education implications weresuggested, such as considering developmental psychology to activategenerational worship, improving educators’ awareness of generationalworship, implementing generational worship according to the size ofthe church, and designing worship services that consider generationalintegration.
