오늘날 세계는 사회․경제․정치․문화 등의 교류가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 교류 안에서 수많은 사람들이 다양한 이문화를 접하게 된다. 이러한 이문화 접촉을 통해 문화는 끊임없이 변화하면서 발전 혹은 쇠퇴해 나간다. 더불어 사람들이 이문화에 대해 느끼는 감정 및 인지의 정도도 달라지며 이러한 이문화 인지도에 따라 사람들의 이문화에 대한 혹은 외래 관광객에 대한 태도 또한 변화한다. 본 연구는 올바른 이문화 인지 및 올바른 태도형성에 있어서 중요한 시기인 초등학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 초등학생들의 이문화에 대한 인지도를 알아보고 이러한 인지도에 따라 초등학생들이 외래 관광객을 대하는 태도에는 어떤 차이가 있는지 살펴보며, 더 나아가 초등학생들의 올바른 이문화 인지 및 올바른 태도 형성에 도움이 될 수 있는 시사점을 제공하는데 목적을 두고 연구를 진행하였다. 그 결과 외국을 방문한 경험이 있는 경우 이문화 인지도가 높았으며 이문화 인지도가 높은 학생일수록 외래 관광객에 대한 사회적 기여도, 적극성, 호의성의 성향이 강한 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 학생들이 이문화의 인지도에 따라서 외래 관광객을 대하는 태도가 다름을 알 수 있었다. 어릴 때 이문화를 바르게 이해하고 수용할 수 있는 태도를 기르고, 이를 토대로 이문화와 우리 문화에 대한 올바른 가치관 형성 및 올바른 태도를 신장하여 국제 사회에 우리 문화를 널리 알리고 더 나아가 세계 시민으로서의 소양을 기르게 하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다.
Abstract
We live in the world where people regularly contact with diverse cultures. Nations have their own cultures which change and develop constantly. Therefore, people change their perceptions and recognitions about these cultures. These perceptions are formed through a lifetime of experience. So it is very important to learn and form the right attitudes towards other cultures. However, there has been only few studies. It was learn that students who visit abroad have more recognitions about other cultures and through these recognitions have more positive attitude and goodwill toward international Tourists. The result of the study also suggest that teachers should notice how their students understand other cultures correctly. Therefore, students could understand and learn about cultural diversity and importance. Also other organs of educational system should support the cultural education in the elementary schools so that they could understand difference and value of other cultures.
