Abstract

If 4⋅3 literature is creating an institutional recovery for 4⋅3 through the best literary achievement of the nation's imagination, 4⋅3 literature in need of creative renewal should explore literary tasks that cannot be fully captured by the nation's imagination. To this end, we need to pay attention to the "oral testimony narrative," which cannot be fully reproduced with literary truths biased toward text-centrism, which values literacy, unlike the literary ideology of the existing 4⋅3 literature.This is because 4⋅3 literature can’t escape from the capture of national imagination with representative truth implied by literal representation based on the modern literary nature of text-centrism. And we can’t neglect other representative truth reveals what happened to be implied by ‘oral performance representation’ different from a literal representation as what 4⋅3 literature’s subaltern changes towards resistant subject against East Asia's ‘decolonized Cold War.’ Therefore, this article focuses on the eyes of subaltern as 4⋅3 generation which have not been discussed in 4⋅3 literature. I examine subaltern’s voices with the problematics of ‘oral testimony’, which can’t be fully guaranteed with literal representative truth for national imagination. So, I take a notice the presence of subaltern’s ‘oral representation’ concerning the unspeakable catastrophe of 4⋅3, as well as I look at the subaltern’s attitude of never surrendering the reality of the island community’s male absence, and creates a leading ‘matriarchal space’. And I look at the resistant affection implied by ‘oral truth’ though performing indigenous ritual by subaltern. Besides, I noticed the testimony as 4⋅3 resistant subject shows the political and sociological imagination about decolonized Cold War in East Asia as what 4⋅3 resistant/revolution emerges. As such, East Asian subaltern’s ‘4⋅3 testimony narrative’ in decolonized Cold War after World War 2 emerges the productive studies seeking renewal and new horizons of 4⋅3 literature beyond the imagination of the modern nation-state captured western centrism.
