Abstract
The Jeju Yongdam-dong Ritual Site is a significant archaeological case that illustrates the practice of maritime rituals in Tamna during the late Unified Silla to early Goryeo period. However, no substantial follow-up research has been conducted since its initial excavation in 1992, leaving the site's ritualistic character and contextual significance largely unexplored. This paper reexamines the site's location, features, and artifacts based on the original excavation report. By comparing it with contemporaneous maritime ritual sites in other regions, this study analyzes the spatial characteristics, ritual composition, and socio-political status of the Jeju Yongdam-dong Ritual Site within the local community. The findings suggest that the site functioned as a complex maritime ritual center, integrating the reception of foreign goods with symbolic ritual practices.
