Abstract
We are experiencing the connection between humans and machines that penetrates the modifiers of social phenomena, such as big data, autonomous driving, the advent of artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. The connection, previously important only in the field of communications, has now become the basis of internet data and social connection through SNS, moving beyond wired and wireless telephones. And this is leading us towards a hyperconnected society. The ultra-connectivity and ultra-low latency delay of 5G technology will enable endless connectivity and provide other services that were unforeseen. Blueprints of various kinds of services drawn by different files of society such as autonomous cars, smart factories, smart cities, smart health, and countless other smart services that are applicable from personal smart watches to home appliances. Large and small signals that work to accomplish various purposes will be quickly and effectively connected by frequencies from your watches all the way to the end of the land. However, the successful settlement of 5G is only possible with the use of frequencies that can guarantee new levels of ultra-low latency, ultra-connectivity, and ultra-reliability that were never seen in previous mobile technologies. Thus, the settling of 5G depends on successful frequency utilization. And it is necessary to consider the flexibility of the frequency policy that most efficiently makes use of the frequency. This study characterizes the major mobile communication technologies that have evolved from the first to the fifth generation and analyzes how telecommunications evolved at each generation with the goals of the next generation. Further, it forecasts the frequency usage environment in preparation for the 5G era and suggests the frequency policy which can accommodate such demands.
